UPSC release their upcoming exams schedule in the form of a calendar on 25 April 2024. It is an annual affair where they upload date wise and duration wise time table of the upcoming exams in advance. As we know that UPSC is the central authority for recruiting all the Grade A and Grade B civil officials in the country. Some of the most popular exams of UPSC are of course UPSC Civil Service Exam, National Defence Academy (NDA)Exam, Combine Defence Services (CDS) exam and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) exam. Previously on 19 April 2024 UPSC release revise annual calendar for 2024 exams schedule.
Candidates who want to appear in any of the UPSC organised exam can go on the official website and check UPSC Annual Calendar 2025. They can plan their preparations accordingly. UPSC aspirants also need to complete their OTR on official website. It is mendatory for all UPSC aspirants to do a One Time Registration after which they don’t need to update their information everytime they apply for a new exam.

About UPSC
UPSC is a Constitutional Body under Article 315-323 Part XIV Chapter II of the Constitution of India to discharge their duties, functions and obligations assigned under Article 320. The UPSC conducts various examinations in accordance with the Rules of examination as notified by the Government of India in a just, fair and impartial manner for making a merit based selection and recommendation of candidates for various Group A and Group B Services of the Govt. of India.
Functions of UPSC
- Conduct examinations for appointment to the services of the Union.
- Direct recruitment by selection through interviews.
- Appointment of officers on promotion / deputation / absorption.
- Framing and amendment of Recruitment Rules for various services and posts under the Government.
- Disciplinary cases relating to different Civil Services.
- Advising the Government on any matter referred to the Commission by the President of India.

Eligibility for UPSC exams
- Citizenship– A candidate must hold Indian citizenship in case of UPSC IAS exam. But in other exams citizens of Bhutan, Nepal etc as mention in eligibility criteria of certain exams.
- Age– It is only UPSC NDA exam where the minimum age requirement is 16 years old otherwise all other UPSC aspirants must be alteast 18 years old. In case of UPSC IAS exam age requirement is above 21 years. Therefore, it depends on particular examination.
- Qualification– In case of UPSC NDA exam candidate need their 10th pass certificate and can also be a student appearing in Class 12th examinations. In other UPSC exams generally candidates require a basic graduation degree from a UGC recognise institution. Educational qualification are all specifically mention in the eligibility criteria of particular UPSC exam. Therefore a candidate must read eligibility criteria of the particular UPSC exam they are targeting in 2024-25.
How to do UPSC One Time Registration (OTR) 2024?
- Go to official website of UPSC i.e upsconline.nic.in
- Click on One Time Registration option.
- If you are a first time user then click on ‘New Registration’.
- Registration– Fill all your details like Name, Gender, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Minority status, valid mobile number etc. Then enter your 10th class board roll number. Select a security question for your security and also enter security answer. Enter Captcha code and Click on ‘submit’. Now you receive an OTR ID.
- Log In– Confirm your registration by logging in again and clicking on ‘Already registered’ where you will set you password. You can link your account with your email id, mobile number or OTR ID.
- Verification– Finally the candidate shall update their information by uploading important documents as asked on the website. Then click on ‘submit’. Your UPSC OTR is now successful.
- Dashboard– UPSC OTR registered candidates can then go to dashboard and apply for all UPSC active exams by clicking on notification links. Their basic information is already submit on the application form so now they only need to upload extra information and pay exam fee. All the application they fill appear on their Dashboard.
