Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Amount after 12th

Government of West Bengal is awarding SVMCM scholarship to meritorious students belonging to Economically Weaker Sections of society. Students studying in Higher Secondary Schools and colleges of West Bengal are eligible to get this scholarship. SVMCM Portal 4.0 will soon open Swami Vivekanand Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship scheme in August 2024. There is a special scholarship scheme for females through SVCM & Kanyashree (K3). For M. Phil and Non-Net  Research Fellowship individuals there is a two year M.Phil plus 4 year Ph.D scholarship scheme.

Applications for both Fresh scholarship application and Scholarship Renewal is expected to start in July. The amount of SVMCM Scholarship falls between Rs 12,000 to Rs 96,000 annually.  Eligible people can go on the official website and register themselves to get a chance to win scholarship. The recipients of SVMCM Scholarship are chosen on a  merit basis.

About SVMCM Scholarship

Swami Vivekanand Merit-cum-Means Scholarship is a scheme to award meritorious students and researchers. The aim is to empower economically weaker sections of society by supporting the individuals in academic field. The scheme facilitates students and researchers to continue studying and bring positive change in society through education. The SVMCM Scheme was introduced in 2006-07 and later revamped in 2016 to cover more students and increase award amount.

Benefits of SVMCM Scheme

  1. Students in class 11 and above: SVMCM Awards Rs 1000 per month to meritorious students to facilitate their studies. At this age the students shall focus on studies and not worry about money. It will also increase their efficiency and interest. Students get motivated to continue their higher studies as benefits extend upto higher colleges and universities as well.
  2. Facilitate Research work: It providers financial support to M. Phil and non-Net research scholars who are employed in an institution. They get motivated to conduct their research work more thoroughly and contribute to academic growth.
  3. Special support to Females: It contributes to women empowerment by giving special attention and facilities to girls students through Kanyashree (K3) Scheme.
  4. Economic Development: When meritorious students and researchers are supported they become successful professionals and contribute to the economy. One individual will educate and improve the financial condition of their entire family.
  5. Easy and transparent process: The entire registration and application process takes place on SVMCM 4.0 Portal. All candidates can access and apply for scholarship. The process of scholarship approval and amount disbursement is also very transparent so anyone can check their status at any point.

Eligibility Criteria of SVMCM Scholarship

  • Age: There is no minimum or maximum age criteria for SVMCM scholarship.
  • Residence: the students or research scholar who are a resident of West Bengal can apply for SVMCM Scholarship.
  • Qualification: minimum 60% marks in High school and 60% in any college level courses.
  • Income level: The maximum income of SVMC beneficiary’s family cannot exceed Rs 2.5 lakhs

Process of applying for SVMCM Scholarship

  1. Go to official website of SVMCM i.e svmcm.wbhed.gov.in.
  2. Click on ‘Registration’. Then select if you are a topper or non-topper.
  3. Select ‘Fresh Application’ and then again click ‘apply for fresh’. Then Click on ‘Proceed’.
  4. Select on Directorate your are applying for.
  5. Enter your information like Last qualified exam, Board, Year, Course information. Fill applicant name, email ID.
  6. Put your Account Number, IFSC, Bank Name etc.
  7. Upload documents like your photograph, HOI forwarding letter, update pages of passbook from the date to admission to the date of application.
  8. Click on ‘Register’.
  9. Your SVMCM 4.0 portal registration and application is now successful.

Renewal of Swami Vivekanand scholarship

For renewal of scholarship the beneficiaries just have to log in to SVMCM portal 4.0 and submit their application for renewal. Application for renewal of SVMCM scholarship must be filled within 1 month of promotion to next class. Beneficiaries need to upload marksheet of previous class on portal. Beneficiaries must obtain atleast 60% marks on HS level to UG Level combined. For UG and PG Courses they must obtain minimum 50% in previous 2 semesters combined.
