International Cricket Council (ICC) is ready to set fourth the 9th edition of its one of the most popular cricket tournament called the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. According to a declaration made by ICC in 2021 Pakistan will host the upcoming Champions Trophy tournament. This is the first time for Pakistan to host any international cricket even after their 1996 ICC World Cup. Pakistan is also the country that won the last, 2017 ICC Champions trophy cup.
There are 8 teams participating in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament in Pakistan. India is one of the top 8 countries to participate along with England, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, South Africa Australia and Pakistan. India and Pakistan will collide on 23 February 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. AN interesting aspect of the tournament is that India is proposing a hybrid model for its matches in lieu of the geopolitical issues prevailing between the two countries.

About ICC Champions Trophy
It is an international ODI cricket tournament also know as the Mini World Cup. The last ICC Champions Trophy tournament took place 8 years ago in 2017 in England & Wales. There was a hiatus of the series due to rumours of being replaced by World Test Championship and the pandemic in the year 2020. There are total 8 teams out of which one is the host country team. The rest of the 7 teams are selected for ICC Champions Trophy on the basis of their performance in the ongoing ODI World Cup. The top 7 teams in ODI World Cup go for the ICC Champions Trophy tournament. The winners of ICC Champions Trophy 2021 receive a cash prize of $ 2.2 Million. The frequency of ICC Champions Trophy tournament changed from 2 years to 4 years in 2009 after the postponement. Later due to pandemic the tournament got discontinued.
Format of ICC Champions Trophy 2025
ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will take place in a Single-round robin format. In this format each team plays with the other team once. There are around 15 matches that will take place in ICC Champions Trophy 2025. There are 3 stages of the ICC Champions trophy match i.e Group stage, Knockout stage and then final.

Venue of ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Pakistan will host ICC Champions Trophy in February-March 2025. The country earmarks three cities for Champions Trophy matches i.e Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. This the first time for Pakistan to host an international cricket event The match set to take place in the 21st century. In 2009, Pakistan supposed to host 2009 ICC Champions Trophy, but it transferred to South Africa due to security reasons. This time as well the Indian team is reluctant to play all its matches in Pakistan for the same reasons.
However, PCB confirms its building a new High-tech stadium in Islamabad with state of the art security preparations. All teams can play tension-free and enjoy their stay at the same time. Pakistan also adds that its organising matches of Indian team in Lahore which is closest to India and therefore proving its special consideration on the player’s security.
