The Board of Secondary Education, BSE release Odisha TET 2024 or OTET 2024 notification on its official website, www.bseodisha.ac.in. Candidates who are interested in can check details and apply online mode at BSE Odisha website. The online application forms for OTET 2024 is open from 24^th June 2024. Last date to apply for OTET 2024 is 5^th July, 2024 (till midnight). The payment of fee and submission of forms will take place through online mode by 6^th July, 2024 (by 11:45 p.m.)

All the candidates who meet the eligibility criteria shall submit an Odisha OTET application form. Candidates should hold a graduation degree with at least 50% marks as per OTET eligibility criteria. OTET is conducted every year for the recruitment of teachers for Class 1 to Class 8 in Odisha schools.

There are two levels in OTET. Candidates can fill the OTET application form 2024 for level 1, level 2 or both according to their eligibility. Paper 1 of OTET is for the aspirants who wish to teach in Class 1 to Class 5, and Paper 2 is for the ones who wish to teach in Classes 6 to 8.

About OTET 

OTET means Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test. OTET is held every year for candidates who aspire to become a teacher for class 1 up to class 8 in state government, private aided and private unaided schools in Odisha. The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) certificate remains valid for 7 years from day of issuance. After qualifying in OTET exam, candidates receive certificate, which allows them to apply for teaching positions in state.

OTET consists of two papers:

• Paper 1: For candidates aiming to teach classes I to V (Primary level).
• Paper 2: For those interested in teaching classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary level).

OTET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Though Odisha TET is an eligibility test, however, there are certain eligibility criteria which candidates must have to follow while filling their OTET Application Form 2024. There is no specific age limit for OTET Exam but minimum education qualification is required. Below we have discussed OTET Eligibility 2024 for primary and upper primary teachers.

Eligibility Criteria for Paper-I (Primary Teacher for Classes I to V)

1. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
2. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), following NCTE regulations.
3. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
4. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
5. Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

 Eligibility Criteria for Paper-II (Upper Primary Teacher for Classes VI to VIII)

1. Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.).
3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with NCTE regulations.
4. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
5. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
6. Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

 

OTET 2024 Important Dates

The complete schedule has been announced officially along with OTET Notification 2024 on 21st June 2024. As per the schedule, the link for the online application is active from 24th June 2024 and the application link will remain active till 5th July 2024. Candidates can submit application fee  till 6th July 2024. The offline OTET Exam will take place on 9th August 2024.

How to apply for OTET 2024?

Before going for registration, candidate shall have to read instructions, eligibility & applicability for appearing at OTET-2024. Candidates can appear on Paper I or Paper II or both papers as per their eligibility. The step-by-step process to apply online for OTET Exam has been shared here.

1. Visit official website of Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, at bseodisha.ac.in.
2. On the homepage tab click on Examination, then OTET Examination > Online Application for Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test OTET- 2024.
3. Candidates are redirected to a new page. If you have already registered, click “Login” button, otherwise click on “New Registration” to register.
4. On clicking “New Registration”, OTET-2024 page will be displayed.  Enter your name, password (to be created by you), Mobile No. & e-mail ID and then click on Submit tab. (you will have to enter OTP which shall be sent in your registered mobile no. and email-ID).
5. Submit your application forms by providing personal information, eligibility criteria, educational qualification, and address.
6. Click on Payment & Declaration tab to submit application fee as per category and then click on Final Submit tab.

OTET 2024 Exam Pattern

As per the OTET 2024 exam pattern, the eligibility test will comprise two papers. Candidates can either opt for Paper 1 or Paper 2, or both according to the eligibility. However, candidates taking both the papers — paper 1 and paper 2 will have to submit the OTET application forms separately.

Both papers will include questions on child pedagogy and development, a regional language (Odia, Urdu, Hindi, Telugu, Bengali) and English and will carry a total weightage of 150 marks.

Paper 1 will also include questions on mathematics and environmental science. Candidates of paper 2 will be allowed to choose between two sections including a) mathematics and science and b) social studies.
