After NEET UG results release on June 5 2024. Students are ready to register for NEET counselling 2024. To take admissions in various medical courses (MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing) of prestigious institutions around the country like AIIMS, DU etc. Therefore, students impatiently wait for counselling to start. NEET UG counselling is regulated by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) for All India Quota (AIQ). The final exam of NEET UG took place on 5 May 2024 in which around 24 Lakh students appear. There are total 67 toppers this year who got perfect score and therefore share AIR 1. Ved Sunil kumar Shende, Ayush Naugraiya and Syed Aarifin Yusuf M are one of the (AIR) 1 rank holders from Maharashtra, UP and Tamil Nadu respectively.

NEET UG counselling registrations will open on the official MCC portal. Seat allotment and Merit list process will start in the month of July 2024. There is 15% seats reserved in all deemed medical institutions of the country for which this AIQ NEET counselling will take place. Therefore students who need to apply for colleges outside their state can apply for this counselling. Those who want to take admission in their home state universities can apply under their 85% state quota counselling. There are limited seats in participating colleges and therefore selection takes place on merit basis.

About NEET UG Counselling

Students who appear and pass NEET exam are eligible to apply for NEET UG counselling to begin their college journey. Admissions in national universities on the 15% AIQ quota takes place through centralised portal of MCC. Therefore students who want to take admissions in top medical colleges of the country apply for MCC NEET UG counselling 2024. There are 4 rounds of NEET UG Counselling namely Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round and Stray Vacancy Round. Stages of NEET Counselling include registration, choice filling, seat allotment and final reporting.

Stages of NEET UG Counselling

Eligibility for NEET UG counselling 2024

• Citizenship– Candidates with Indian citizenship including NRIs, OCIs are eligible to apply for NEET counselling 2024. Foreign nationals who appear in NEET exam can also apply for NEET UG counselling 2024.
• Age– Minimum age to apply for NEET Counselling 2024 is 17 years which is also the age to apply for exam.
• Educational Qualification– candidates must appear and pass in current year’s NEET UG exam. Previous year’s marks are not applicable. Moreover, candidates must meet or exceed the certain cut-off standard set by their target institution to become eligible to apply for NEET UG counselling 2024.

NEET UG AIQ counselling Rounds in detail

Rounds	Features/Meaning
Round 1	This is the main round of NEET seat allotment where the first merit list of selected students release on official. Students have option to select or reject the seat.
Round 2	This is the next round of seat allotment where remaining seats are allotted based on responses of students for first selection. They can further accept or reject the seat within time frame. There is no fresh registration or choice filling required for this round. Students once joining from this seat cannot apply for any other round or State counselling.
Mop-Up (Round 3)	AIQ Mop-up counselling round is for the left over seats after the above 2 rounds to sweep all vacant seats. Therefore the name Mop-up round.
Stray Vacancy Round	Stray vacancy round takes after all the above mention rounds end and in case there are any vacant seats due to rejection or inability of student to respond within time frame. There is a low chance of these seats to appear but somehow few seats may get vacant.
