National Scholarship Portal opens registrations for academic year 2024-25. Students who want to apply for various scholarships can now apply and do their One Time Registration. After NSP OTR students don’t need to register or fill their details again for other applications. Students can track their application status on official portal of NSP. Public can visit portal and find their nearby Adhaar Seva Kendra, know your AISHE code, track your payment, check Adhaar seeding status etc.

NSP OTR registration is mandatory for all the students who want to apply for scholarship through NSP. Students need to confirm their identity by face authentication on official app. They get their OTR ID after their OTR registration. There is only OTR ID allowed per person on NSP Portal.  Then they will complete their eKYC on NSP portal itself. Now they are eligible to apply for various national level scholarships.

About National Scholarship Portal (NSP) 

National Scholarship Portal is a centralised portal for all scholarship related services in the country. It is under Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeITy). NSP is one-stop solution through which various services starting from student application, application receipt, verification, processing, and disbursal of various scholarships to students are facilitated. National Scholarship Portal is taken as Mission Mode Project (MMP) under Digital India. This initiative aims at providing a Simplified, Mission-oriented, Accountable, Responsive and Transparent ‘SMART‘ System for faster and effective disbursal of Scholarship to eligible applicants directly into their account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) without any leakages.

What is NSP OTR?

There is a One Time Registration mandatory for people who want to apply for scholarships and use various services of NSP portal. Candidates need to verify themselves, do their e-KYC after which their OTR ID is generated. There is only one OTR ID for one person. Later they can log in with their NSP OTR ID and password to access all the features of NSP portal. This is a one time process which eliminates the need of registration every time the student applies for a new scholarship.

Eligibility for NSP

All Indian citizens below or above 18 years of age are eligible to register and use NSP. For candidates below 18 years of age their parent’s consent and Adhaar Card verification is necessary. Rest major candidates can use their own Adhaar card to verify.

Only students of various primary and higher education institutions shall register on this portal to take benefit of the various scholarships.

Stages of National Scholarship Portal (NSP)

1 Registration and application This is the stage of NSP OTR registration and ID creation. Initiation of the registration process takes place for the new joiners. It is mandatory for all those who want to apply for any scheme
2 Level-1 verification Institute’s Nodal Officer verifies the application and documents. He ensures that all the documents are valid and authentic.
3 Level-2,3 verification Verification of documents and application by the District/State/Ministry Nodal Officer. They ensure that there are all documents in the authentic form present.

3rd level of verification process is where the State/Ministry Nodal officer verifies the application for the final check

4 Beneficiary Records creation Now the record of the applicant is created in the official documents of NSP. Their OTR ID is created and their services are active on the portal. They can edit their details or apply for other services.
5 Application deduplication and merit list generation This step ensures that are no duplication in the documents of the candidate. They can now check the merit list that generate from time to time.
6 Payment file The portal links your bank account with the system and created your payment file once you make it in the final merit list. There are various aspects which may even lead to rejection at this stage.
7 DBT Through NPS DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) the scholars get direct credit of funds in their link bank account. It runs under DBT mission. The key bodies include AISHE, DISE, NCVT, UIDAI etc.

  • Mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
  • NPCI Seeding status (optional)

How to register on NSP OTR?

  1. Visit official website of NSP website i.e scholarships.gov.in
  2. Click on ‘New Registration’ tab
  3. Read the guidelines carefully and keep all the documents ready.
  4. Click on ‘Next’.
  5. Enter your mobile number and verify it with OTP you received.
  6. Fill the captcha and click on Verify.
  7. Move on to e-KYC option.
  8. Similarly verify your Adhaar card details and click on verify.
  9. Enter your parent’s details, Captcha and then click on Finish.
  10. You will get your NSP OTR reference number. You can also click on Know your OTR reference Number. Enter your adhaar number to get your NSP reference number.
  11. Then proceed to complete your face authentication by downloading Adhaar Face RD app on your device.
  12. Download NSP OTR app
  13. Click on eKYC with Face Auth on NSP OTR app and then your face authentication will complete automatically.
  14. Once your NSP OTR authentication completes, you receive NSP OTR ID on your registered mobile number.
