According to the rules of General Chennai Corporation all pet owners need a mendatory license for their pets every year. The owners need to register their pets with local municipal bodies and get their GMCC pet license.
It is important for the owners to vaccinate their pets against Rabies. For this they highlighted names of 4 Pet Treatment Centres in Mr. V.K Nagar, Nungampakkam, Meenambakkam and Kannammapet. It is requested to apply after vaccination against measles.
For offline pet registration, there is a plan of Door-to-Door pet registration drive but for online registration the owners can simply register their pets on official website. They shall register, apply for vaccination and pay the nominal fee of Rs 50 through their preferable online mode.

About GMCC Pet registration
According to Chennai city Municipal Act 1919, it is compulsory for all pets to get register with the GCC (Greater Chennai Corporation). The license lasts for about a year and then it has be renewed again next year. The pet owners can go to the official website and apply for a GMCC Pet registration license or renew their old.

How to get a new GMCC Pet license?
- Go to official website of GCC and click on New User.
2. Enter the name of owner, Address, email , phone number. Create your password and click on Submit. Your log in credentials are generated.
3. Go back to starting page and enter your mobile number and password. Click on ‘Log in’.
4. A List of all licenses will appear. Click on New pet registration.
5. Enter your pet details like any identification marks, name, age etc. Also mention their Pet vaccination details. It is mendatory for pets to get a rabies vaccine to be complete within a year of new license registration.
6. Upload documents of your pet, Photo of the owner, Address proof and rabies vaccination certificate.
7. Your GMCC Pet license application is now complete. The GCC veterinary team will verify your application and visit within a week. They will examine the health of your pet and verify original documents.
8. After successful verification, a payment link will show up on your screen. Make payment of Rs 50 through your suitable online mode.
How to renew your GCC Pet license?
- Go to official website of GCC and log in.
- Click on ‘Expired Pet license list’.
- Enter details of the license to renew and your own information.
- A team of GCC Veterinary officials will visit you within a week and verify official documents.
- After successful verification, a payment link will show up on your screen. Make payment of Rs50 through your suitable online mode.
