Students who just pass their class 12th exams and want to take admission in colleges of West Bengal can now register on WBCAP. Department of Higher Education of West Bengal open registrations of their Centralised Admission Portal for UG courses. There are more than 16 Universities and 461 colleges in West Bengal which are all available through WBCAP. Admissions in all UG courses like B.Com, B.A, B.Sc etc of West Bengal is going to take place on WBCAP portal. Students who are pass or appearing in their 12th class exams are eligible to apply for WBCAP centralised admissions.
All eligible candidates must register themselves on WBCAP for admissions in the current year. They shall fill application form, upload documents and pay application fee on the official portal. Registrations for WBCAP admissions 2024 start on 24 June 2024. Admissions selection in the colleges take place on merit basis. Last date to apply for WBCAP admissions 2024 is 7 July 2024.

About WBCAP Admissions
West Bengal Common Admission Portal (WBCAP) is a centralised admission portal for admissions in courses of institutions in West Bengal. These are admissions in Under Graduate courses like B.Sc, B.Com, B.A etc. Students who are pass in class 12th or with pending results are eligible to apply for these admissions. Selection through WBCAP portal takes place on the basis of merit. The entire process of UG admissions is online in the colleges of West Bengal. Candidates can check colleges according their preferences, check their eligibility and seat matrix etc on WBCAP.
Eligibility for WBCAP admissions 2024
- Citizenship/Nativity– There is no particular citizenship or nativity requirement to apply for WBCAP admissions. However there are certain reservations and preferences for the resident students. Generally after all residents get admission, and if there are still any seat left then non-residents get selected.
- Age– There is no minimum age criteria to apply for WBCAP admissions. However the colleges and universities participating in WBCAP admissions 2024 may have their own eligibility requirements. Therefore policies of individual college/university carefully on their official website.
- Educational Qualification– Students who are pass in class 12 or whose result is pending to release can apply for admissions. The student must score a minimum 50% marks in certain subjects related to the UG course if they want to be sure of getting selected. They need 12th pass certificate from a recognise state/central education board. Top 4 subjects marks are considered for merit preparation.

- Banglar Siksha ID if available.

- Bank Account Number of the candidate/ guardian along with IFSC code.

How to apply for WBCAP admissions?
- Visit official WBCAP i.e wbcap.in
- Click on ‘Register now’ to create your new profile.
- Enter your mobile number and email id. Then click on ‘Continue to next step’.
- Fill your personal details like name, Nationality, Gender, USER ID, Qualification etc. Verify mobile and email with OTP.
- Click on ‘Complete Registration’.
- Log in with your registration credentials or with OTP. Verify this with OTP.
- Now create your profile by clicking on ‘Update Profile’ on dashboard. Click on tab of ‘personal Information’ and update your details. Then similarly repeat this process for Address, Additional information, Results, Documents, Preview etc.
- Check all declaration boxes.
- Upload all important documents as mention in form.
- Your WBCAP admissions profile is now complete.
- Click on ‘add new button’ to select courses according to your preference (upto 25 courses allowed). Select a combination of subjects for the course you are applying to.
- Rank these courses by selecting a number from the drop down menu.
- You can modify your preference list by clicking the option in your dashboard.
- Download a copy of your WBCAP application 2024.
Post Merit list release steps on WBCAP admissions
- Log in and check the status of your application in ‘My Preference’ corner. If you are selected then it will show selected in front of your choice.
- Proceed to check full merit list by clicking on Merit List. You can see the allotment lsit, merit index, rank etc.
- Select your seat by choosing your category from the drop down list. If you are not satisfied with your allotment then you can click on Yes to become eligible for upgradation in the next round.
- Click on ‘Proceed’ to take provisional admission.
- If you are satisfied with your allotment then click on ‘Proceed for Payment’ to make admission payment on WBCAP. Select mode of payment of your choice.
- Download provisional admission slip by clicking on download.
Instructions for WBCAP admissions 2024
- Candidates can apply for a maximum of 25 courses/programes for admission from a particular college.
- They shall select as many courses as possible to increase their chances of admissions
- Minimum passing marks is compulsory to apply for WBCAP admissions 2024.
- If a candidate doesn’t mention their preferences, then their application wont submit.
- The merit index will be calculated based on the ranking rules provided by the concerned Higher Education Institution (HEI) for each individual course / program.
